What date is Mid-Autumn 2026?
Friday, 25 September 2026. Lunar date: 15th day of the 8th month, the night treated as the roundest moon of the year. Families have been out with lanterns since the start of the lunar month. Because the festival lands on a working Friday, some households eat together that evening and some wait until Saturday morning, 26 September.
Is it a day off in Vietnam?
No. Unlike Lunar New Year, offices stay open and planes still land. What changes is the traffic on the night of the 25th and the morning of the 26th around Cho Lon and District 1. See the lanterns, then sleep in an apartment. A hotel in the middle of the crowd is the louder choice.
Where to go on festival night, and where to come back to
Three places are worth the trip. None of them is an event run by the building. Hours and crowds shift from night to night. We do not publish drive times. Traffic makes those numbers false.
- Cho Lon lantern street. Luong Nhu Hoc Street running into Phu Dinh Street, Cho Lon Ward. The street is more than 50 years old. On 25 September 2026, Sai Gon Giai Phong reported more than 30 lantern shops along those two roads. The busiest window is about 19:00–21:00. Carp lanterns, star lanterns, battery lanterns. Good for photographs and for carrying one home.
- Nguyen Hue walking street, District 1. On the nights closest to the full moon there are usually drum troupes and lion dances. Ben Bach Dang is the river edge if you want water after the street. This is the busy centre, not the old lantern market.
- Son Tra communal house, Nguyen Phi Khanh Street, Tan Dinh Ward. On 24 September 2026 VOV described a bamboo-and-paper lantern set of the folk tale “The Toad Sues Heaven”, over 3 metres tall, made by a youth group over 80 days. It is a display for the festival days, not a year-round lantern street. After the night of 25 September, ask before you go.
RiverGate is in District 4, on the same south side of the centre as Cho Lon, a short ride from District 1. A workable rhythm: leave before 19:00, be back in the apartment after 21:00. Cakes, tea and fruit stay on your own table.
| Night | What is worth doing |
|---|---|
| Evening of 25 Sep | Cho Lon lanterns, about 19:00–21:00, then mooncakes at the apartment |
| 26 Sep | Floor 7 pool if you registered ahead · lantern streets still busy |
| From 27 Sep | Street lanterns thin out. To stay longer, send dates and we check the calendar |
Why an apartment fits the mooncake night
Every MKA Summerset unit has its own kitchen or kitchenette, an in-unit washer, air conditioning, a Smart TV and private Wi-Fi. There is no fixed reception desk and no room service. Mooncakes are not included. You buy the cakes and the fruit and set them on your own table. The 7-Eleven at the foot of the tower is open 24 hours if you are short of something late.
Building security works around the clock. The first time you arrive, we meet in the lobby. The easy landmark is the ground-floor 7-Eleven.
Check-in is from 15:00. Check-out is before 11:00. Many families come back late on Mid-Autumn night — if you are already in the unit, just come back. If you are checking in on 25 September, send your arrival time first. This page does not promise an early check-in or a late check-out.
A studio suits 1–2 guests, one open room. A 1-bedroom has a door between the bed and the living room, up to 2 guests. A 2-bedroom takes up to 4 — a couple with a child, or grandparents along for the night. A 3-bedroom takes up to 6, and there are few of them — a whole family for the holiday. The type is chosen after we see the dates. We do not publish unit codes.
If you are here for work on Friday
Offices are open on the morning of 25 September. A guest already in the city for work can finish the day, walk the lanterns, and return to the same apartment — kitchen, washer, a table for a laptop — without checking out of a hotel mid-week. To add the following week, send the dates. Only the calendar can say whether a unit is free.
The morning after
The outdoor pool is on floor 7. Register with the host about two hours ahead. Support hours are usually 10:00–16:00. Building rules still apply. There is no gym. There is no children’s pool. Breakfast is not included.
Price and how to book
This page does not lock a Mid-Autumn rate. Festival nights and weekends can differ from a weekday. Reference prices by unit type are on the nightly rental page. Send check-in, check-out, guest count, and Studio, 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom or 3-bedroom. We check the calendar and reply with one number. The quoted figure is the stay. Nothing extra is added at check-in. Until the calendar is checked, a room is not confirmed.

Where the place facts come from
The lunar date 15/8 equals 25 September 2026; Vietnamese papers carried it on 22–25 September 2026. Lantern street: Sai Gon Giai Phong, 25 September 2026 — more than 30 shops from Luong Nhu Hoc to Phu Dinh. The 19:00–21:00 window was reported by Dan Tri and VietnamNet in the days before the full moon. Son Tra communal house: VOV, 24 September 2026. Street plans can change. This page describes the city. It does not sell event tickets.
